Welcome to August 2026.......
Our colour of the month (CoM) is....
During my 'research' I have discovered a claim of 250+shades of pink.....WOW!!
Pink was named as such in the mid-1700s. Before this, pink was simply referred to as a shade of red.
A specific rose tint was created for Madame de Pompadour, a mistress of Louis XV, by the renowned Sèvres porcelain company. They named it ‘pink’ after a flower of the same name. Since then, the name pink has come to represent all forms of pink.
This information comes courtesy of Leah Mariani,an artist and author from Melbourne, Australia.
- Oldest color: Bright pink pigments found in 1.1-billion-year-old underground rocks make it the oldest surviving color pigment on Earth.
- Not in the rainbow: Pink is not a distinct wavelength of light on the spectrum; it only appears as a mix of red and purple or by subtracting green from white light.
- Named after flowers: The name comes from garden flowers called "pinks" (Dianthus) rather than the other way around.
I love a little (fabulous) inspiration....don't you?
PINK also works well with other colours.......
Now if toys are your 'jam'..... KAS loves and appreciates every one.
Wherever pink leads you....whatever shade grabs you.......
ENJOY!!

All of your blankets are amazing, Sandra, but I think the giraffe motif is one of my favourites.
I agree, Patricia. I can always imagine their large strides as they (appear to) move forward.
Always LOVE to see if and/or what you will create, Sandra......and this blanket is totally GORGEOUS!!
Every time I am amazed at your skill and SUPERB colour combinations....just lovely!!
Another incredible blanket Sanda. Kudos to you to keep up with all that counting.
Another terrific blanket Sandra. Giraffes are always a favorite in my book, whatever color they are.
I would never have guessed that the colour was named after the flower - how interesting. Big grin when I got to those amazing bunnies!
