Thank your for confirming that Diane.   I love linen stitch, as you said easy and fast, but mostly because the resulting fabric is warm but lightweight and flexible, not stiff or heavy.   I now like your idea of doing the blanket as two panels to control the size and weight sitting in your lap.

A truly great blanket!   Great color combination, love the use of variegated yarns, and the stripes add so much interest.   PLUS ... if I am correct, this is made with crochet linen stitch (I also call it chain stitch), which makes a warm but flexible fabric that is perfect for the children.
