I did these 44 rows long in the centre s/s section. I used arran wool on 5.5mm needles so the size came out bigger. I think the main concern has been that the neck opening and the armhole openings are big enough. I think some people had been casting off very tightly when they came to the neck. On the long blue one , photo on my page,I cast off stitiches at the neckline for four rows at the front so it would allow more headroom without making the neckline too baggy. This is always a challenge but everyone on this site is so helpful and supportive you can always ask people for help. I am going to need it I think for although I have knitted for years, I am now in my fifties, I have never done any crochet. Luckily in the small place that I live they are doing free knitting and crochet sessions in our community hall starting next month so they will have a new recruit for crocheting in me and hopefully I might be able to get some of them to do some squares or garments for KAS.
Good luck with your knitting
Julia
Hi Ailsa,
Welcome to the UK Group. You say that you are a fairly novice knitter which is great - you can only get better! Anyone on the site would be happy to help if you need it. Looking at the photographs can also be helpful and is always interesting. Hope you continue to enjoy being a KASer.
Welcome to our warm KAS community. We hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group. You should join the UK group!
There are lots of great discussions going on in the forum, including the monthly challenges.
We are still continuing our July Challenge - keep a newborn warm, making blankets for abandoned babies, and there were some great results for the August in Africa challenge - you can see photographs under the photos menu. (Details of both challenges in the main forum). We're also continuing our September challenge which is also under "challenges" in the forum and have also got the October challenge which is fascinating, please see click the link for further information:
