So glad you have discovered KAS.... your Aran squares will be just fine.... we sometimes use DK or DK with a strand of 3 ply for thickness... but as long as the squares are a good weight and about 8" they are all valued and used in South Africa. Glad you are coping with the tablets... I have still got health problems and we are not sure if they are connected with the statins or if its something else... cardiac wise I have been given the all clear thankfully.
Hello Annie.... what a small world! I do remember you in hospital although you were not there for very long.... I didn't realise you lived in Weymouth though.... how are you getting on and have you had any more problems? KAS is a wonderful thing to support and I get lots of inspiration from this. Are you knitting or crocheting or both? Grace x

Ah, I am not a prolific knitter Annie, but I know lots of ladies who are! Elaine Jones on the forum and I have founded a UK charity called Knit for Life - see www.knitforlife.co.uk
We have about 60 knitters who pass their work on to us and we send it where it is needed - primarily to KAS but we also get prem baby clothes which go to the local baby unit, among other things. So many ladies love to knit but now children are grown have no-one to knit for so we provide that outlet. We had to found a separate charity in the UK for various reasons but it has the blessing of KAS and they are our prime recipient.
Lovely that your grand-daughter is interested in the knitting.

You might like the Monthly challenge. This is a fun way to try new ideas or patterns. Every month, a theme is chosen, and if you wish, you may create something new and different.
February’s challenge is Transportation. Have a look at the discussion for ideas on what you can make.
Many people are using 'Ecofelt' to make the cars/trucks/spaceships and then sewing them onto the plain squares. This is an easy way to give added interest to a square. Plus the children will be delighted !
If you would prefer to work with Plain Janes then have fun with colours that remind you of transportation. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares, especially Plain Janes are needed all the time.
If you are interested in joining any of our challenges, please note: Your parcel does not need to arrive in South Africa before the end of the month. Those of us who use sea-mail find parcels take between 6-10 weeks to arrive. Whenever your parcel arrives, know it will be appreciated and that you are keeping children warm.
