We run a challenge each month. For the next three months it is all about squares. We have a grand total of 55,900 squares we are trying to achieve and would love you to participate.
Don't forget to post photographs of your work. We have an awesome gallery of the work of the KAS community which is really inspiring.
Some of our members further support KAS by making a small monthly donation through Paypal (top left hand corner). This is invaluable help as it ensures we can continue to ensure that your work is speedily distributed to the most needy children in South Africa. We are deeply grateful for any donation we receive, be it monetary or squares to help the orphans. Thank you.

Nice to hear from you, Catherine.
A number of people do make granny squares and although we were originally encouraged to make solid squares they seem to be perfectly acceptable. I expect you will hear from Jeni in Scotland soon and she always makes grannies and joins them into blankets. I wish I could make granny squares. I have been learning to crochet for months now with very moderate success and although I can't exactly say that I can't anymore I'm still not very good at it and it takes me ages. The standard granny I have to look up every single time I try as I always forget what to do and the solid one I lose count and it ends up wonky so I'm usually glad to get back to knitting.
If you look through the Photos section you will see lots of different types that people have made - it's always very inspirational. You will probably see names that you recognise from Ravelry as well.
It's a very friendly forum and if you have any questions someone will always be pleased to answer them and try to help. I hope you enjoy being a part of this very supportive community of good-hearted people.
Hello Catherine, welcome to the UK group. You have probably seen that we are working towards a massive challenge this month - 55,900 squares so we could do with all the help we can get.
Do you knit or crochet or both?
