Yes, knitting in the heat can be difficult. Hope it cools down soon!

      Hello Christine
Lovely to hear from you and that you are enjoying the site. As Jeni said they prefer the squares not to be sewn together although we all do from time to time. You will find that having joined this community you will now be able to talk to people all over the world which is another benefit of KAS. Everyone is very friendly and supportive, from many different walks of life, many different skill levels from beginner to expert, but all working towards one end and all happy to answer questions, give advice or just generally chat. When you've had a chance to look around the forum (and it is rather unwieldy these days) you will see that many people are finding that they are benefitting from sharing and the feeling of doing something worthwhile.
You've joined at a very good time as we are racing to complete the current challenge (55,900 squares in 3 months) and there is a countdown to show the progress so your squares will be very welcome.
Hope you enjoy talking to other members.
      Christine
(I couldn't find out how to reply to your original email - another senior moment - so I hope you find this on your page)

No probs, 24 for toddlers, 30 for little kids, 35 for big kids. Take your pick. I like to do a blankets worth too cause I can do a particular colour or wool type or whatever. i think it also helps with sorting at the other end if there is a blanket worth all there.

Hi Christine, we don't usually stitch the squares together into whole blankets as they can attract duty that way. I often stitch my squares into rows ready to be joined into blankets but still leaving the tails attached for seing together so that they don't look like complete scarves.
5 by 7 squares is the most used size, 5 by 6 next and 4 by 6 for toddlers. I usually do sets of 35 squares that can make the biggest size of blanket as I think it is the most practical size. Also, dont stitch rows together unless doing a whole blanket worth of rows at they find it difficult to match up part done with single squares by other people. Hope this all makes sense. Just ask if it doesn't.

Hi Christine and welcome to the forum. Do you knit or crochet or both? Please consider joining the UK group on the forum if you get a chance - it is quite good for some more local chat, ideas and suppliers. I hope you enjoy being part of the forum, everyone here is so friendly and helpful.
      Best wishes
