Hi Erin, Welcome to KAS from another Canadian ( and Ontarian). When you've had a look around you might like to join the Canadian Corner. We're a bit quiet at the moment but would be happy to have you chat with us.
Hello Erin. In the UK we have had two schools who have successfully used KAS as a project - between them they produced 2600 squares! Oaklands School, Loughton in Essex enjoyed it so much they are doing it again this year. On this page at bottom right-hand corner KAS has produced a resource for schools. Also on the Group tag, it can be either page 1 or 2 there are two School Groups - not very active I am afraid, but there might be some relevant material or comments that will guide you. I 'm going to contact Hayley (Loughton), Anna (Australia) & Susan (USA) to see they can join forces to activate and continue one of the groups so that you can team-work or shares ideas. I'll also flag up to Kalai McDonald the interest from schools that is developing. Don't worry about being a 'knitwit' - I'm not very good either, I've joined the sewing circle!
One of the interesting outcomes that schools have discovered is that the non-academic children pick the skill up very quickly and have ended up teaching the academically minded children - this increased the self-esteem of the non-a's as they were treated with more respect by the 'clever' children. A good experience all-round.
Hi Erin, Welcome to the KAS forum and I hope you will enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children. When you've had a chance to look around the site you would be very welcome to join the Canada Group for more local news and chat.
You can also personalize your own page by clicking on the My Page tab on the menu. Also you can access Settings on this page and set your privacy terms. For questions click on the Forum tab and then KAS - Questions, Answers and Help.
Glad your web search directed to you our team! Check out the New Member Guide by clicking the "Main Page" tab above. There you will find all kinds of information about KAS. Another great section to look over is the Photo tab - everyone is so supportive of the work on display.
