Hi Fiona,
Welcome and terrific that you have ladies knitting. I have the same here - not organised community stuff just ladies who have no-one to knit for and are glad to pass squares on to me. The postage is a real problem - are you posting surface mail? Takes longer but gets there in the end. If you look around the threads you will see some fundraising ideas. I have been donated so much wool I am ebaying it for postage which is working well - but time consuming. Great that you have joined us
Hi Fiona and welcome to the forum. Do you knit or crochet or both? Please consider joining the UK group on the forum if you get a chance - it is quite good for some more local chat, ideas and suppliers. I hope you enjoy being part of the forum, everyone here is so friendly and helpful.
Best wishes
Jeni
We run a challenge each month. For the next three months it is all about squares. We have a grand total of 55,900 squares we are trying to achieve and would love you to participate.
Don't forget to post photographs of your work. We have an awesome gallery of the work of the KAS community which is really inspiring.
Some of our members further support KAS by making a small monthly donation through Paypal (top left hand corner). This is invaluable help as it ensures we can continue to ensure that your work is speedily distributed to the most needy children in South Africa. We are deeply grateful for any donation we receive, be it monetary or squares to help the orphans. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum Fiona, and what a great start. Yes, I agree, this does have a good effect on us all - a lot of people have said how much they personally gain from being a part of this worthwhile work. It's a very supportive and friendly community and I hope you enjoy being a part of it.
At the present time we are aiming to complete 55,900 squares in three months and there is a Countdown Challenge tally on site. If you could enter your contribution there as well Rona will add you to the spreadsheet which she updates every couple of days - it's thrilling to see how fast the number is being achieved. Happy knitting!
