So you contributed to the 400 squares knitted/crochet at Yours Live 2011, that's wonderful.
I know Linda took some home still on needles.
Going on from Jeanne's comment, Christine Johnson is better than Royal Mail for info on postage in the UK. As far a I'm aware it's best to keep your packages below 2kilo's otherwise the cost goes up dramatically. Some PO's automatically price for airmail, so I say surface mail as I hand over the package.
Hi Jan. Here's the discussion thread for all postage topics though it can crop up all over. I generally send my squares in envelopes, either brown paper (they recycle them) or the puffy ones, but sometimes I send a box (particuarly if including some stuffed toys for the kids). http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/forum/categories/postage-1/list... Hope this helps. You can also just click on Forum above, go to page two and you'll see "all things Postal" abit down the index. :) I know what you mean, my kids don't need my crocheting either. I did make two nieces and my 3 daughters those slim "fashion" scarves for Christmas and they seemed to like them. I know my 2nd youngest will never ask me for bright colorful slippers again. I got the brightest variegated yarn I could find. It's been a source of amusement for both of us ever since. I agree, I just love being needed so much. Alot of your compatriots over in the UK do raffles and "sponsor a square" jars at their churches and local crafts fairs to raise postage money as it's not cheap. From over here in Canada I do "sea mail", that's a 3 month trip by boat, still gets there just fine. The U.S. gals and guys can only mail first class but it's about equal to Canadian sea mail. Go figure eh? Well must go but happy to chat any time.
love, Jeanne :)
Hi Jan and welcome to KAS. I joined last November after a 25 year rest from knitting. The site has so much information including patterns. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
You may be interested in the Yours Live 2011 event which was held at Butlins in Skegness in March. We are just waiting for Linda Simmons to give us next years dates.
Under the photos you will also find Carol Playford has posted snaps of the event.
Perhaps you may consider joining the UK Group? Whether you knit, crochet or sew your contribution will be very welcome.
Welcome to KAS, Jan from across the Pond in Canada. I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussions just click Forum above. Any questions just PM me. :) So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.
