Please don't take this as a negative that they may sometimes have to make our square a little smaller. Personally, I would much rather they unpicked a few rows of my square if it were not the right shape or size than throw it away because they simply couldn't make it fit no matter how hard they tried....and KAS proudly states that they NEVER waste a single thing they receive. I would think that of the massive volume they receive it is only a very small number that need an 'adjustment' as I have seen photos of their blankets that have been sewn together from 'squares' of all sorts of different shapes and sizes.
Welcome! and I'm glad you liked the Frog Prince - thank you. I just started with KAS in January and find the people on the site warm and wonderful. They have been very helpful to me with all the questions I've asked. It's great to all join together to help the children from every corner of the world. Do you like to knit or crochet - or both? There is so much talent here. I love to look at the photos - the ideas inspire me. Look forward to seeing yours! Again, welcome!
Welcome to KAS, Jane from up in Canada above MN. You've had more snow and stormy weather than us this year, great for staying in and crocheting or knitting but not much fun otherwise. Hang in there!
I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussions just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the enthusiastic USA group or any groups you wish, to chat with. Any questions just PM me. :) So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.
And now we’re helping out over in Zimbabwe too and they need everything over there. I just love making a real difference in a child’s life. So welcome aboard!
Hi Jane, welcome to the forum ! We are so pleased you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters who are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.
If you have any questions about anything just ask ! There is always someone willing to help with the answer.
Do you knit or crochet ? As Bev has said, everyone loves to see what others are doing so please post photos of your work. Just click on the photo section at the top of the page and then follow the prompts.
Have you had a chance to look at the e-zines ? They provide wonderful photos of how our squares are helping these vulnerable children. Their smiles are priceless !
After you have a look around you might like to join the US group. There you can discuss specific questions that pertain to your area of the world. The US group is talking about adopting another creche.....3 were adopted last year ! Also you can join any other group you would like.
