I'm quite excited about the crochet class. The only one I could find last year was in a neighbouring town on the one evening of the week I couldn't make but my local yarn shop has a new owner who just happens to be friends with the teacher of the evening class who has agreed to take a small group once a month in the shop which just happens to be about 100 yards from my shop so I'm signed up.
Crochet definitely grows faster but in my case there is so much unpicking that I don't necessarily achieve more. There are some great photos on site of the beautiful work people do. They can sometimes be a bit intimidating but I try to keep in mind that a cold child would prefer a slightly flawed blanket to no blanket.
The second comment seemed to come through before the first. The forum does take a bit of navigating but you get fairly used to it.
Like you, I knitted as a child and then stopped almost completely. I had a flurry of Aran jumpers when they were more fashionable (1970s?), made a few baby clothes in the 80s when my boys were born and then didn't do anything until my daughter-in-law started to learn and rekindled my interest. Then I came across KAS and now I knit a lot.
I knit too and for the past year I have been trying to learn crochet. A little progress but at last there is a class near me and I start next week - perhaps I'll find out what I'm doing wrong.
Welcome Judith. Christine is so right everyone is soooo helpful and the talent out there well there are some wonderful knitters and crocheter's out there.
Greetings Judith. I love that name, so pretty. Welcome to KAS. I used to be a Brit, we lived in Yorkshire then down in Birmingham. Since I was 5 1/2 I've lived across the Pond in Canada. I thoroughly enjoy being a member of KAS, there's always something exciting to read about, so thrilling to see everyone's creativity and I get inspired by their designs. I'm not one of those who can crochet up a storm, but I do my bit. I've got a shopping bag full of bits and bobs, hats and squares, needing to be mailed. Must get to it. Meanwhile welcome to KAS and I hope to see you around the boards, we're always available to answer questions and help out.
Lovely to have you with us Judith. You will everyone here very friendly and supportive and if you have any queries there is always someone happy to help. If you would like to join the UK group (or any others) you'd be very welcome.

Hope you enjoy knitting again like I do.

Do you knit or crochet or both?
