      Juli,

Bev tells me you just posted your first parcel to SA.  Congratulations!

Postage from the US is very pricey, $10/lb up to about 10 pounds.  After that it gets a little bit cheaper.  When you post make sure you go to an actual post office, not a postal shop.  Shops around me mark up the price almost 300%, yes that is right.  I have been mailing about 20 pounds for about $160.  I always laugh with my postal person saying go with the cheapest it is still expensive.

I usually use a 16X16X18 box and stuff it full.  That means I post 3 to 4 times a year.  The good thing is that my 20lb box has the same charge in SA as a 4lb package.

Sorry that I don't have the magic formula for a way to send thing to SA any cheaper.

If you have any other question, shoot me a line and I will try to answer it.

I hope you will post a photo of your work so all of us can enjoy it.

      Amy

      Hi Juli.

A warm welcome to the Knit A Square forum.  :))

Knitting,  crocheting or looming an 8" square or two, or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the children. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world.  PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone of all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page or our other square pattern discussion  http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/member-s-patterns-squares you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on.
