Welcome to KAS, Kim! I know what you mean about the high cost of mailing the squares. Sometimes I just mail a few at a time. I have also held a yard sale and used the proceeds for postage. Some folks have asked for donations from church or other friends who don't knit or crochet but are interested in helping with postage costs...sort of like "sponsors." Or, start a group at school or church and fund raise together. Have a table with literature about KAS available and set up a "donations for postage" box. You can download and print free literature, posters, rulers and note cards from this site...go to the home page and click on "resources." I hope you can find a way to stay with us and knit or crochet for the children!
Welcome to KAS, Kim from up in Canada above MN. I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussions just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the friendly energetic USA group or any groups you wish, to chat with. Any questions just PM me. :) So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win. And now we’re helping out over in Zimbabwe too and they need everything over there. I just love making a real difference in a child’s life. So welcome aboard!
