Tell me about the novel by Maggie Sefton. Does she mention KAS? There is a mystery author who has just released her latest book in which she also mentions KAS and she gives information at the end about making and mailing squares. Her name is Sally Goldenbaum but I can't remember the name of her book. I think it is part of the Seaside Knitters Series.
