Welcome to KAS, Pamela from another Pamela (though I prefer to be known by my middle name, Jeanne). I live in Canada just above MN. I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussions just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the energetic USA group or any groups you wish, to chat with. Any questions just PM me. :) So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.
Hi, Pamela! Helen Flagg here! You will need 24 oz. of yarn for a good size KASCuddle.
If you use a size 9 needle instead of a 13, you will have to cast on a great many more stitches to make
the total width come out at 29". The length should be 29 inches also plus 5" for the collar.
These are the new dimensions requested by Ronda in South Africa currently so we can
take care of babies up to 9 months. If your yarn is a 4 or a 5 (chunky or bulky) the content should be fine. Just be sure you gauge your stitches so you have enough to make your width. Are you using a circular needle? It's the easiest way to go because
you don't have to purl. Just knit your collar and join at the end of knitting it and knit
round and round! The bottom of your Cuddle should be finished off straight across so
the baby has room to kick. Make sure the seam is sturdy. Good luck and if I can
Welcome, Pamela. So glad you found us! It is indeed a mitzvot to help others less fortunate than ourselves. We need more people like you who help others unselfishly. Welcome to Knit-a-Square!
