Hello Sharon, so glad you have joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
Please visit “Helpful Hints” [see tab above] for helpful information:
- Questions you may have (FAQs),
- How to navigate the forum,
- Postage information and
- Learn when your squares arrived in South Africa!
We have a ‘Drive to Fill Ronda’s KASvan’ with squares and would appreciate if you would add to this challenge. We have filled the KASvan already and are trying to fill it again.
We have a monthly challenge as well. This is a fun way to try new colours, ideas or patterns revolving around the theme. If you wish, you may create something new and different......it could be making a plain square using a new colour, a different stitch or trying a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting. An 8”/20cm square is the perfect size for experimenting. The September challenge is all about Education ! Please join us here to see what others have made for ‘educational’ squares and then add a few of your own :-)
If you are interested in joining any of our challenges, please note: Your parcel does not need to arrive in South Africa before the end of the month. Those of us who use sea-mail find parcels take between 6-10 weeks to arrive. Whenever your parcel arrives, it will be appreciated and you are keeping children warm.
As always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Janes, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since a blanket is created with 35 squares sent by people from around the world, squares are needed all the time.
Hi Sharon, Welcome to the KAS Forum from the UK. I hope you will enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? We now have our official KAS Pattern Book with all the garments and squares that have been found the most useful to distribute to the children. Just double click on this link : KAS Pattern Book
For further questions click on the Forum tab for "FAQs" or "How do I" - they can be found on the menu bar that goes across the page under the Helpful Hints tab.
You can also catch-up with events and news through our monthly news bulletin: KasSnippets
Very glad Pinterest directed to you our global knitting family!
