Welcome to our warm KAS community. It's great to see you. We hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group. You should join the USA group.
There are lots of great discussions going on in the forum, including the monthly challenges.
We have a challenge every month, if you want to get involved please do. It's not compulsory at all but some of the work done is just lovely. Have a look at the November challenge - the SLIP-OVER (under challenges in the main forum) this will give you an idea of some of the fantastic work this community is doing for the children of South Africa. Me again ! for the long stitch - I did 5 normal sc stitches and then when the 6th came up instead of going into the expected place I went down two rows below it and went through the work - I struggled at at first with tension and pulled it out a couple of times until I felt more at ease with the stitch - I had never done it before but had seen the stitch in a book and thought I would give it a bash. Hi Trillian,
thanks for the lovely compliment on my Go-over.
I made the pattern up. I used the basic pattern given by KAS but adapted it ending up with just two pieces, back and front. Don't like sewing up. I made a chain long enough to give me a 20" base and did 6 rows of sc in dark blue and then 3 rows of sc in light blue - the first row had a long stitch every sixth stitch and the dark blue was then done in 7 rows groups. When the piece was 12" long I added +/- 45 chains on either side to make the sleeves. For the back I continued for 8" and ended off. On the front piece I added on either side for the sleeves and did about 3 more inches before splitting in the middle and doing the one side and then the other.
hope this make some sense - if you need more help please let me know. Jen xx
