Welcome, finally, quite late, Kate to KAS! That's me all over, tardy. :P Sorry I'm so late in this, the dust is just settling now from a holiday invasion of family at my house. I loved it but wow it's much saner now here, well as sane as I ever get, lol. I suggest checking out the Main Page in the Header above, where you'll find a link to the New Member Guide which has my slightly convoluted route to the Discussion Boards in it. That will be fixed, soon I hope. Great to have you with us and hope to see you around the boards! :) Any problems give me a PM. We've just posted a Featured Discussion on the Discussion Boards index...all about postage, where to send etc. Hope it helps! Sorry again I'm slow. I only just started this welcoming bit..I know behind the barn door again. Yep, that's me! :P (to get direct to the Discussions Board click on Patterns in the header above, then click on Squares, on that page look above the title Squares, you'll see "All Discussions". Click on that and presto, the Discussions Index with the Featured Discussions right at the top.
Welcome and happy knitting. There are some great videos on uTube which explain how to crochet. If you google - how to crochet you will end up being spoilt for choice.
I mainly knit but have used these videos to brush up on my crochet work.
You sound as if you have your hands full with the little one and another on the way.
My 2 children were 22months apart and yes 25 years later I wonder how I managed but it's surprising where the energy comes from.
I can't crochet either! Probably if someone is patient and shows us we'll get it, but have tried comprehending instructions with pictures and it is still no go. Don't worry about the size of your contribution especially with toddler, and baby on the way - it is what is in your heart that counts and each square has those qualities and they will be sewn together with all the other squares contributed by our global army of knitters.
For knitting instructions go to the menu bar near the top of the forum and click on
K-A-S this takes you to the front page of the website. Scroll down the page (no side bar) quite a bit and you come to a list of choices and just a bit further click on Knitting Instructions. When you reach this page, scroll down yet again and you'll spot the knitting instructions for squares with a couple of pics.
Completed squares are sent direct to South Africa, Again the instructions are on the website front page. In the UK you can send surface mail, which takes longer, buts is half the price of air. Parcels should be under 2kg and no more than 90 cm in length otherwise they become international parcels and cost £50! If you have any problems just come back. Also you can raise any questions about knitting on the Forum and you'll get much advice from many of the experts knitters - sadly not me......
Hi Kate, Welcome to the KAS forum and I hope you enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children. When you've had a chance to look around the site you would be very welcome to join the UK group for more local news and chat.
Glad your web search directed to you our team!
