Hi from snowy Melton Mowbray - I was wondering if you had seen my post in the UK discussion group about the KAS 10th birthday party I am organising this August. It would be lovely if some of my local East Midlands KAS sisters were able to be there.
Welcome to KAS Michaela! Sorry I'm so late in this, the dust is just settling now from a holiday invasion of family at my house. I loved it but wow it's much saner now here, well as sane as I ever get, lol. I suggest checking out the Main Page in the Header above, where you'll find a link to the New Member Guide which has my slightly convoluted route to the Discussion Boards in it. That will be fixed, soon I hope. Great to have you with us and hope to see you around the boards! :) Any problems give me a PM.
I have used different size needles and thickness of yarn and as yet have never got two squares the same size.
I'm currently using an Aran type wool on 5.5 mm needles and 30 stitches is working out at 8 inches.
Other KAS members also reckon that dark wool is thicker whatever the ply.
It's driving me crazy! So I decided to make a blanket the size KAS requests and sew all my misshapen squares together. This is why I am now concentrating on the jumpers, it's sooooo much easier.
I hope this is of some help if not please feel free to contact me again as I am very happy to help.
As Nottingham is just up the road from Leicester I would be very happy to meet with you if that will help?
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to KAS. As you have just learnt to knit, squares are a good way to start and you will soon have the knitting bug like the rest of us here.Nice to see someone else from Leicester. As far as I know you are only the third member from this part of the Country. Keep in touch and take a look on the photo page when you have time. There are some very inspirational pictures.

Hi Michaela
Great to be friends but yes I'm a bit crazy for some reason I got confused and suggested you were from Nottingham.
The New Year hangover has obviously not gone yet! Sorry.
Love Barbara X
Yes of course we can be friends that's great. Sorry I always read my comments before I check on friend requests.

Hi Michaela, welcome. I'm the other member living in Leicester apart from Elsie. The colour of your drink would be wonderful to knit/crochet with.
You may already know but Wilkinson's is one of the cheapest sources of wool in Leicester apart from the charity shops.
Happy knitting, Barbara x
