      Hi Val
Sorry I havn't relied to you earlier but I have been busy unfortunatly I do have to work.
So you have been busy knitting, I have just finished a blanket which I have nearly sewn it up. I belong to a knitting group which has just opened up in my local liberary. It is good, there is lots of free wool that poeple donate. Some of the women there have just started to knit the squares. So I think Iwill be busy sewning these together.

Sorry to here about you illness, Hope that knitting and quilting take you mind off this. It seems that you to lead a busy life.

      Hi Val

Welcome to our warm KAS community. It's great to see you. We hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group. You should join the USA group.

There are lots of great discussions going on in the forum, including the monthly challenges.

We have a challenge every month, if you want to get involved please do. It's not compulsory at all but some of the work done is just lovely. Have a look at the November challenge - the SLIP-OVER (under challenges in the main forum) this will give you an idea of some of the fantastic work this community is doing for the children of South Africa. Here is a link to the November challenge photos:

Did you receive the latest ezine? If not you can view it here:

Thanks so much for your contribution already, look forward to being in contact soon.

      Happy Knitting!

      Hi Val
Good to have you with us and you'd be very welcome to join the UK group. Be warned - you can easily become addicted to being a KASer!

Hi Val - glad you found us! We do tend to be scattered around the UK but we're a friendly bunch and we're slowly growing in number which is great.

With regard to postage I send all my things by surface mail as it's a lot cheaper than air mail - my last package had 20 knitted squares and 18 felted ones, which are much heavier, it weighed 1.3kg and cost £8.56. If you have a look at the Royal Mail website you can get a better idea of price - anything under 2kg goes as a small package and that's the most cost effective.

With regard to packaging, I put the squares in zip lock bags and then use plastic posting bags - if I've had anything from QVC recently I tend to reuse their bags, just turn then inside out and they're fine. If you squeeze the air out before you seal the zip lock bags, it's amazing how many you can stuff into each bag!

Hope that helps, if you need to know anything else, please ask!

      Diane
