Welcome Bethany! I posted a package of a similar weight the other day and it cost me five pounds something (surface mail). I agree about 1kg being about as much as you want taking up house space - I live in a very small house (well, it's small, but I've got lots of wool!)
Good luck with the crocheting - I knit squares on the bias to help with my dodgy tension!
Hi Bethany and welcome to KAS. I was brought up in Wallsend and moved to Leicester in 1975. I still miss the seaside, Northumberland Street shops especially Fenwicks and their beautiful Christmas displays. Sorry I can just go on and on.
I joined KAS last November and knit mainly jumpers with matching hats. I'm a bit rubbish at squares. Since joining KAS I've taken crochet lessons which I thoroughly enjoy.
Are you a Geordie too or have you moved to the area?
Best of luck with your squares and hope to speak again soon.
Happy knitting, Barbara
Hi Bethany, welcome to the forum. I hope you will enjoy being a part of this friendly community. My son lives in Gateshead and I just returned home yesterday after a few days in the area.
With regard to the squares, yes, absolutely, everything is very welcome. If you are able to make them into sizes that fit in with other squares well and good but if not, send them anyway. Nothing is wasted.
We'd love to have you join the UK group if you wish when you've had a look around this very big site.
Happy crocheting (I just wish I could get better at it.)
