Welcome to KAS Dena, from up in Canada above MN. We so much enjoy being able, one on one, to really make a difference in the lives of these orphans. You may find yourself having a Winnie the Pooh "moment" and other items just "slipping into" your package of knitting or crocheting. That's quite common around here as the children have nothing, no socks, vests, hats, blankets, beds...and we can send them a little touch of warmth and love! Good to have you with us.
Welcome to KAS Dena, so glad you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters. We are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.
If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. http://forum.knit-a-square.com
Do you like to make hats ? Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones ! Click here to find out why.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add” and follow the prompts.
A big welcome to the KAS forum from the UK Dena, great to have you with us. One of the moderators will soon be in touch with a longer message, but in the meantime it is good to have another member in the USA. We are a friendly worldwide bunch and it means to much every time someone joins us who wants to help keep the children warm and loved.
