Greetings Desiree from way over in the middle of Canada! Welcome to a worldwide network of loving happy people helping African Aids orphans. Glad to have you with us. It's so heartening to know that in this global, often so impersonal world, we're actually making a difference, a REAL difference, in the lives of these children. Check out the Forum, above, for the various discussion threads, and Photos for all the lovely photos of members' work and Groups where you can join groups from countries around the world.
The Featured Discussions grouping (in the Forum section) show the most important subjects at the moment, latest challenges, latest news etc. I also recommend the Anyone Want to Chat Discussion section, which contains the Our Furry Companions and Yarnaholics threads. I am so much a Yarnaholic! Thanks again for helping the AIDS orphans in Africa!
Hi Desiree, squares are always needed because there are hundreds of children in need of blankets. So basic knitting is perfect !
I agree, the pullover is small and will soon be taken off the site. The new Pattern Book is almost ready. I'm working on it and we hope to have it ready before Christmas. There are lots of great patterns in it so I hope you can wait til then :-)
If you work on Plain Jane squares you will be able to participate in the November Challenge which is called (I think) "In Praise of Plain Janes". We will be making lots of basic squares so Ronda and the volunteers can make more blankets.
Hello Desiree, so glad you’ve joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
Do you like to make hats ? Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones ! We are already over the halfway mark !! Click here to read why we’re making so many.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page and follow the prompts.
Hi Desiree, Welcome to the KAS forum from the UK. I hope you will enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children.
You can also personalize your own page by clicking on the My Page tab on the menu. Also you can access Settings on this page and set your privacy terms. For questions click on the Forum tab and then KAS - Questions, Answers and Help.
Very glad your web search directed to you our global knitting family! Check out the Hello & Welcome Letter by clicking the "Main Page" tab above. There you will find all kinds of information about KAS. Another great section to look over is the Photo tab - everyone is so supportive of the work on display.
We also very much need your 'time-on-my-hands' ! Pam
