Greetings Elizabeth from across the Pond in the middle of Canada! Welcome to a worldwide network of loving happy people helping African Aids orphans. Glad to have you with us.  It's so heartening to know that in this global, often so impersonal world, we're actually making a difference, a REAL difference, in the lives of these children. Check out the Forum, above, for the various discussion threads, and Photos for all the lovely photos of members' work and Groups where you can join groups from countries around the world.

The Featured Discussions grouping (in the Forum section) show the most important subjects at the moment, latest challenges, latest news etc. I also recommend the Anyone Want to Chat Discussion section, which contains the Our Furry Companions and Yarnaholics threads. I am so much a Yarnaholic!  Thanks again for helping the AIDS orphans in Africa!

Welcome to KAS Elizabeth, so glad you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters.  We are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.

If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you.  http://forum.knit-a-square.com

Do you like to make hats ?  Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones !  Click here to find out why.

And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children.  Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS.  Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.

Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work.  Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add”  and follow the prompts.

Warm greetings from South Africa :)

PS - That doesn't mean that Aberdeen wasn't interesting - just the working in a office in Berkshire related to the oil industry! :-)

Hello Elizabeth and a very warm welcome to KAS.  Great to have yet another member in the UK - if you would like to join the UK group do click on Groups above, then UK.  I know we have other members in Scotland, but can't remember exactly where.

I know Aberdeen a bit, having worked for an oil exploration company before I moved to Shropshire for a more interesting life!

You will hear from one of the moderators soon but in the meantime so glad to have you with us keeping the children warm.
