There are 35 squares per blanket. All squares can be bundled together in lots of ten or five, if you want to send amounts that don't total a blanket's worth. I usually bundle them in 10's and then if I have five left over they pack as a smaller bundle. If you have enough to bundle them into 35 that's great!! It just makes the sorting so much more time efficient for the team in South Africa. Thank you. :))
Do you have the packing slip link, I sent you? This helps them to record your parcel and then you can watch for its arrival in the 'received squares' monthly lists. It also has the printed address slip to detach at the bottom and to place on the outside of your parcel.
Knitting or crocheting an 8" square or two or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the children. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world. PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone of all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/wish-list-2017
Clicking on the 'Helpful Hints' tab at the top of the page, will possibly answer many initial questions you may have .Any other questions...please ask...we love to help. :))
If you'd like to see what other KASers have been making please click on the photo tab at the top of the page....and feel free to add photos of your creations...we would love to see them. Just click on 'add photos' and follow the prompts.
If you want to see the most active discussions at present, please click on the 'main page' tab and they are listed in the centre of that page...just pick one and click on it. It is a large website, but with so much fun and info.
F.Y.I here is our 2018 themes list....these themes are just for fun and there is no pressure to join in. ANY squares you would like to make are most welcome and much appreciated. :))
Finding your way around at first can be a little difficult. There is a list of Discussion Categories. You will find that we have a theme for each month of the year. These themes are in no way imposed, but designed to give ideas to members who like to try something different.
There is also a pattern book which shows patterns for the kind of items that Ronda needs for the children. At the moment we're asking people not to send any more bonnets. Thereare already many in stock. However we do need a lot more handwarmers.
There's a helpful hints section. Or you can join a group if you wish.
Feel free to post a question on the forum. There will always be someone who can answer it.
Once again, welcome to the Knit-a-Square community.
