Hello Jane, so glad you’ve joined us.

If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. The FAQ category should answer any general questions you may have. If not, please ask. http://forum.knit-a-square.com

Looking for patterns ?  Check out the KASPattern Book filled with ideas for both the novice and experienced knitter or crocheter.

You might like to join the Monthly challenge.  This is a fun way to try new ideas or patterns. Every month, a theme is chosen, and if you wish, you may create something new and different......it could be making a plain square using a new colour, a different stitch or trying a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting.  An 8”/20cm square is the perfect size for experimenting.

This month’s challenge is  Plain Jane Squares, Stash Busting and UFOs. Making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children.  Plain Janes are the backbone of KAS.  Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.

If you are like the rest of us you probably have a stash of yarn just waiting to be made into squares !  This is a great way to use up that yarn and keep the children warm.  Once it is used, then we can buy more :-)

UFOs are ‘UnFinished Objects’. For example: vests or sweaters, tucked away in the closet needing to be sewn up or a trim added.  We will be finishing these and adding photos to the discussion.  So please have a look.

We would love to see photos of your work.  Click on the photo option at the top of the page and follow the prompts.

      Enjoy !

Hi Jane and welcome to the forum from suburban Philadelphia. We are so pleased you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters. We are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.

If you have any questions about anything just ask. There is always someone willing to help with the answer.

Do you knit or crochet ? Everyone loves to see what others are doing so please post photos of your work. Just click on the photo section at the top of the page and then follow the prompts.

Have you had a chance to look at the e-zines ? They provide wonderful photos of how our squares are helping these vulnerable children. Their smiles are priceless !
