Please go to the U.S. Forum page on the KAS website and read about a new fund-raising drive to raise funds for a newer vehicle for Ronda. She is in great need of a more reliable car to take the blankets and hats to the creches and the squares to the stitchers. A donation of any amount is valuable. Thanks
Hi Janet
Long time I know but...... I have mastered the basic Granny square! Have found US magazines and Australian ones the best for learning.
Have also made a hexagon one. Have temporarily mislaid the pattern though!!! I t will turn up eventually no doubt. Many thanks for your encouragement. Hope all goes well with you. xxx Suzan
Hiya, Long time I know.
I have been trying to learn to crochet ...... baaaadly! I will get there ..... I am practising. Had a go at trying to do your hat - it was a pretty unusable effort and has been recycled. Not the fault of your excellent instructions - my menopausal brain just needs to practice more!!!!!
I will do it!!!!!! I will post you a photo when I have achieved.
Hope all goes well, Suzan x

Thank you Janet. I am most pleased to make your acquaintance. I have not been able to meet my latest grandchild except in pictures but hope to visit California soon which is where she and her mommy and daddy call home. I have also not been able to spend much time here lately due to working to very many hours and when I get on here, I totally lose track of time. If only I didn't need to sleep!
Hello Janet again, just responded to another discussion about colours in the US group and pointed them to the Soweto page on the site. you may be interested to have a look. Got a great clip of the Soweto Gospel Choir on it too:
Hi Janet, what foresight. Thank you so much for raising this. I had hardly thought about Christmas, but of course, as it is summer in South Africa, gifts rather than blankets would be a wonderful challenge. Oh yes Christmas is HUGE in South Africa. Did you know that South Africa has the highest Christian population in the world per capita, interesting isn't it. So lets give this some thought. Ronda recently wrote suggesting a whole lot of things that we could do for distributions during the summer months to give them a chance to make and stockpile blankets and clothes for winter.
Ronda is in Johannesburg which is where the mail arrives, so I am a bit confused by your post masters advice. In fact Soweto is really part of Johannesburg, a sort of city within a city, probably about an hour's drive from where Ronda lives. Jo and Lindiwe who help Ronda, live in Soweto and catch taxis each week to help with the opening of the parcels. They are amazing volunteers, we are very lucky to have their help.
Hi
Yup have kinda realised that terminology is different! I shall be going by the pictures to work out how to do the stitches I think!
Just noticed something about cats on your wall. I always adopt one (or more!!!) We are down to one now. He is 16 or maybe more. Costing me a fortune at the vets! Thyroid and arthritis. He now has a new girlfriend who can't be more than a year old......... go figure that out! he is currently at the front door trying to get out.
They do say that dogs have owners and cats have slaves ...... guess I had better get up and let his majesty out .
Ciao for now.

Have not had the results yet of medical tests - no news is good news, is my theory.
