Greetings Jean from a Pamela Jeanne up in Canada above MN! (I prefer to go by Jeanne)  I have a brother living in Utah, in Provo.  Do you have snow yet?  We do.  Anyhow, welcome to a worldwide network of loving happy people helping African Aids orphans. Glad to have you with us.  It's so heartening to know that in this global, often so impersonal world, we're actually making a difference, a REAL difference, in the lives of these children. Check out the Forum, above, for the various discussion threads, and Photos for all the lovely photos of members' work and Groups where you can join groups from countries around the world.

The Featured Discussions grouping (in the Forum section) show the most important subjects at the moment, latest challenges, latest news etc. I also recommend the Anyone Want to Chat Discussion section, which contains the Our Furry Companions and Yarnaholics threads. I am so much a Yarnaholic! Thanks again for helping the AIDS orphans in Africa!

Welcome, Jean, from suburban Philadelphia. So glad you've joined us!

Hello Jean, so glad you’ve joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.

If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. The FAQ category should answer any general questions you may have. If not, please ask. http://forum.knit-a-square.com

If you would like to try something different, you might like the Monthly challenge.  This is a fun way to try new ideas or patterns.  Every month, a theme is chosen, and if you wish, you may create something new and different......it could be making a plain square using a new colour, a different stitch or a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting.  An 8”/20cm square is the perfect size for experimenting.

This month’s challenge is In Celebration of the Plain Jane. Check out the different interpretations of a “Plain Jane” or basic square. Making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children.  Plain Janes are the backbone of KAS.  Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.

We would love to see photos of your work.  Click on the photo option at the top of the page and follow the prompts.

      Enjoy !

Welcome Jean. Knitting for KAS is a great experience. I will look out for your items in the images.

The moderators will give you tips on using the website. When you click on the photo tab you can chose a photo and then click next. The newest photos are first. You can then go to a member's page and view their other photos, well down the page on the slideshow.
