From your photo, that square looks perfect. Some members block all their squares before sending them. I never do, because, if a side doesn't lat totally straight, once it's sewn into a blanket, it will be perfect.  You consider your knitting basic! Mine is non-existent. Knitting a single square takes me days. I much prefer crochet. I can crochet a square in 20 minutes.

Hi Madge, and welcome to the Square Circle Forum, home of Knit a Square.

My name is Amy and I am one of the Moderators from Texas.

We hope you enjoy the different discussions that cover all aspects of KAS.  We hope that you will get to see your work arrive in The Barn or better yet wrapped around a child during a distribution.

Please feel free to add a comment or two to photos or discussion.  This site is a little challenging at the beginning but with a little practice it is very easy to navigate.

I look forward to seeing some of your work on the Forum.

Thank you for your message, Madge.  Don't be worried by the photos of our members' work. They are lovely to look at and can be very stimulating.  I admire some of the squares so much, but am happy to do what I can. You must remember that we're not in a competition to see who's best, but we're all aiming for the same goal...to bring comfort to the children in need.   The first squares that I sent were far from being very good, but I'm sure that they found their way into a blanket or two. There's a place for every square. Our volunteers in South Africa are really good at piecing all the squares together.

Welcome to the Square Circle, Madge. We are a friendly group with members from all over the world.

In the Discussion Categories you will find all the necessary information on KAS. It may take a little time to navigate at first as there is a lot of different information. You can contact a member of the circle if you have a problem or just need information. There will always be someone ready to help.

I had a little laugh about using the bits and bobs of leftover yarn and having inundated all the family with knitted goods. I think most of our members suffer from the same problem. Most of us are addicted to yarn, and are so happy to have a good excuse to buy more and more yarn.
