Hi Susan, Please got to the US Forum group for current information abut a fund drive to provide a newer vehicle for Ronda to take blankets and squares to the creches and squares to the stitchers. donations in any amount are welcome.
Good news!! Humble Stitch Project from FL will send our squares to S.A. if they receive them by Dec. 15th. Mailing address given on the US forum group. Jan Wilcox, OH
Hi Susan, how is the Go-Over going or are you staying with squares. KAS needs lots and lots of squares so it is a good thing to be doing.
I'm enjoying the Go-Overs but not the sewing up part. I've been working total fronts and back and then adding the sleeves onto the sides so there is less sewing up. I'm trying a neck down pattern right now....the only sewing will be tucking in ends. This may be the pattern for me !
The best way is to join the US group and ask. I live in Northern Canada so it would be a bit of stretch for us to get together :-) Though its nice "talking" to you.
Go to "Groups" and click on United States. They have a discussion group going about where people live. Hope this helps.
Hi Susan, a Go-Over buddy sounds like a good idea. Is there anyone in your area? Most people join the squares with a whipstitch which is quite effective.
Or you could try Dawn Laverty's pattern for a Go-Over http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/dawn-lavertys-2-seam-go...
It seems quite easy. Or (third idea ) have you considered a slip-over ? It's 2 rectangles joined with straps. The children can wear it under/over their clothes. There are other patterns under "Forum" Just scroll down the list. Some are also listed under "Patterns ". Anne and Karen are organizing the website so things are a little easier to find.
Whatever you decide to do it will be appreciated. Have you seen the new photos Erin put on about their visit to a day care in South Africa ? The kids are so cute....makes me want to make more !!!!
Hi Susan, glad to be your friend. Do you knit or crochet or both ???
I prefer to crochet. I'm left-handed and find it easier than knitting.
Talk to you soon.
Welcome to our warm KAS community. It's great to see you. We hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group. You should join the USA group.
There are lots of great discussions going on in the forum, including the monthly challenges.
We have a challenge every month, if you want to get involved please do. It's not compulsory at all but some of the work done is just lovely. Have a look at the November challenge - the SLIP-OVER (under challenges in the main forum) this will give you an idea of some of the fantastic work this community is doing for the children of South Africa. I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder but happy that you are able to make squares. Thanks for letting your friends know, that's brilliant.
Happy knitting Susan!
