Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussion Boards my route is click on "Patterns" in the header above, then click "Squares" in the bit that pops down, then on that page click on "All Discussions" above the page title, top left side, in light blue italics.
