Hi Yvonne. I'm up in Canada just above MN, which I often visit. Your weather has ranged from droughts to floods, really nasty. Hope you're okay where you are. Glad to have you with us. It's so much fun and so rewarding to help the orphaned children in South Africa and we really are making a difference, one square at a time. Add them all together and hundreds and hundreds of children have already been warmed and given hope and love, from around the world. You might like to click on Groups above and join the USA group for some lively conversations, they're all so enthusiastic. Again, glad to have you with us and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me or anyone. :)
Hello Yvonne, so glad you’ve joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. http://forum.knit-a-square.com
If you appreciate a “challenge”, you might like to join the Monthly challenge. This is a fun way to try new ideas or patterns. Every month, a theme is chosen to challenge the forum members to create something new and different......it could be a new colour, a different stitch or a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting. An 8” square is the perfect size for experimenting.
Please have a look at what some of us have made and then join us in making a square of two that is your representation of the Far East.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. They are always needed since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add” and follow the prompts.
