Hi Jean, moving house would be quite stressful. I've been in the same place for over 30 years and I can't imagine trying to sort through everything....especially the wool LOL
How wonderful that you have so many squares and hats made. If you haven't already checked with the UK group, you might like to have a look for postage suggestions. I believe the cheapest way is by surface mail. The package size that is most advantageous is less than 2 kg with dimensions of no more than 90 cm (length+width+height). If it's like here in Canada, anything over that is a horrendous jump in postage costs.
Please post photos of some or all of your squares and hats. Did you add your hats to the red and white total ? We're up to 188 !
Hello Jean, so glad you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters. We are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.
How is it with all the fans for the Olympics? From the TV broadcasts it looks like the streets are teeming with people ! I haven't been to London in many years but did enjoy visiting the museums, art galleries and the Royal Albert Hall.
If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. http://forum.knit-a-square.com
Do you like to make hats ? Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones ! Click here to find out why.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add” and follow the prompts.

Best wishes for a Happy Birthday, Jean. :))
Welcome Jean - lovely to have another UK member - what part of London are you in?
