Thanks Maridu for your lovely comment. I too would like to be able to be knitting like this if I reach the age of 92:)

Good to hear Marion - on the whole we do not get problems with parcels going astray, and, now we have an email database in South Africa, we are able to let people know they have arrived once they have been opened! Glad you enjoyed making the comfort doll - she is absolutely lovely!

Thanks for commenting on my dolls .. I use wool to embroider the eyes  so each time I do them they turn out different .. not by choice but by chance.

Hi Marion, have checked the Squares Lists : February lists 4 tops 35 sqs : April indicates 2 parcels with 2 tops, 19 hats : July lists 56 squares.

Each month the list is published on the Forum, usually, in the first week of each month. Click on Discussions on the menu bar, then click on Squares Lists-Tally-Item Count.  You will see the various lists on 3 month blocks.  Click on July, and you will find July2013.pdf file in the bottom left hand corner of the page.  Once you open the pdf.file - the USA is listed first, then the UK.  In all the years I've been involved only a couple of parcels have disappeared - this is why we prefer the squares sent loose, as the type of person who steals sadly cannot be bothered to sew them up!  We also had the horrid month long postal strike in South Africa, which caused everything to pile up - many of the later parcels got opened first.  Hope this will help you feel more comfortable.  Pam

Hi Maridu. - thanks for your kind comments on my squares. Here is the link to the pattern:

I used 8ply yarn and 4mm needles which made a just slightly generous 8inch square. Have fun.

Thanks so much maridu, for sharing your pattern with me ... I will give it a try and hope for a real square this time.   I tend to knit a little tight, so that might be part of my problem.

I just love making squares for KAS, and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  I'm already thinking ahead to next month's challenge and what squares I can make for it!

      Take Care.    Sharon

Thanks very much for taking the trouble to send me the pattern Maridu, that's really kind of you. Have added it to my collection and will have a go tomorrow!

Thank you so much for your kind comments under my photos. If the 'pattern on the left' to which you refer is for the striped beanies I can't put it into the pattern book because it's not my pattern but you can find it here http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTtychus.html .

It's very easy and quick and there used to be a link on the site but I can't find it now although the hats do turn up fairly often in photos. I noticed a few red and white ones amongst pictures of a recent distribution. I do hope that's what you were asking about - if not, ask again. Thanks for your interest.

Thank you so much for your kind words.  Your work is wonderful, so I'm really pleased to think that you like my work.   Isn't KAS a great place?  So much support, and so much inspiration, and so much creativity.  Keeps me thinking all the time.  Keep stitching

Congratulations !  126 squares will certainly help fill the van.  Would you like me to add them for you ?   Ronda is so enjoying the van and I love thinking of her delivering bags and bags of squares to the ladies who make the blankets.  Have you seen the photos/report on the main page of the latest delivery to Wandi's house ?
