I love these patterns and photos, and am so happy that increasing while also doing Front Post Double Crochet is being straightened out!
:)
Forgot to describe the photos :-)
1) is the beginning of the hdc
2) beginning of FPDC
3) completed FPDC
Thank you. This discussion is helping me with pattern writing.
Christine and Donna, I've attached photos to show the steps in making the increase and FPDC in the same st.
Round 1 ( pink yarn) is 12 dc.
Round 2 ( purple yarn) has 24 sts. In this round the # of stitches is doubled. You will make the hdc in the usual manner then make the FPDC in the post of the stitch in which you have just completed the hdc.
Round 3 works on the same idea.
Hope this helps......or you can ask at your class :-)
This is where Skype would help !!!

Thanks Rachel for the explanation.
Donna, there is also a video on youtube showing how to make the FPDC. As Rachel said ,in the pattern this is also an increase so make sure you put the FPDC in the same st as the hdc.

Hope this helps....

Christine,
If you follow the post of the stitch up, at the top of the post are 2 loops, usually referred to as the front loop and back loop. So, to make the FPDC, you go around the post, and then you use the loops at the top of the post you just went around to make the additional stitch for the increase...or in the case of the square pattern above, you do the stitch in the loops first and then do the FPDC around the post of that same stitch next.......or you can just ask at your lesson next week =).
