HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Welcome to our first 'themed' month for 2024.......
DIAGONALS and STRIPES!!
When thinking of diagonals, I liken it to climbing a mountain (or maybe a small hill. I'm afraid of heights!). You can go quickly at the bottom (short rows)....but then as you near the 'summit', the 'path' takes longer....until there you are... 'at the top' (finished increasing your stitches) and then you're laughing, 'cos now it's downhill (decreasing stitches) all the way.....and by the time you approach the finish line, you're practically sprinting (through those last, ever-decreasing rows)!!
Stripes, in all manner, including diagonal stripes, create some of THE most snazzy and interesting blankets. They are also a good way to use up any little leftovers you may still have, hanging around from other projects....Thin stripes, thick stripes, diagonal stripes....all fun, all pretty, all GREAT!!
Let's start the year off with a BANG!!
CoM (colour of the month) is...
ORANGE!!

Just GORGEOUS, Patricia!!! They look SUPER in that stitch.
Thank you for naming the colour, because it looks a lot like the colour of a set I have been trying to finish for days.....still two to go...haha.
I must also say THANK YOU so much for hosting December. I had thought I would have finished some UFOs to add to your discussion, but alas no.
Welcome Alison. I think most of us wait until we have a box full , depending on our postal rules. I personally wait until I have a box
of knitting to send , that weights just under 2kg . Cheapest way for me from Canada. Good Luck with your knitting.
Thank you xx
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and excited about getting my needles going. A quick question... do I have to send in the knitted colour of the month in that month or can it be a few months together? 😊
Hello Alison, welcome to KAS. Very briefly the Colour of the Month is merely a suggestion of what to use in your makes. From the UK the postal category is up to 2kg, small parcel International Economy. As the charity is charged a nominal fee of almost 4$ to collect each parcel, it is imperative to make your parcel weight as close to the maximum weight as possible. Karen x
Me again 😊 Please can you give me an idea as to how much a parcel , up to 2kg in weight, would cost to post from the uk. I have a change pot that I use and was thinking about using the bits I throw in...depending on the costX
It's just less than £14.50 currently.
Fabulous. Less than I thought. Thank you 😊
Thank you Karen x
Oh dear. Something doesn't like the size of my picture. Now they are upside down. Grr.
