Hi, Erica! I live in the Philly suburb Radnor, and am looking into starting a Philly-area discussion group.  I noticed one or two regional groups popping up lately.   This might be a good idea to make it easier to get together for a knitting circle from time to time, talk about regional yarn bargains, etc.  What do you think?

Welcome to KAS, Erica! I'm from Philadelphia, too...born and raised here. Now I live in Melrose Park, Cheltenham, just outside the city. What part of the city do you live in? I see that you are new to knitting and I applaud your willingness to knit for others. Like any other skill, it takes practice! So glad you joined us.

Welcome to KAS Erica, so glad you have joined our world-wide family of knitters and crocheters. We are dedicated to keeping the children in South Africa warm.

If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you.

Do you like to make hats ? Ronda, in South Africa, has asked us to make 600 red and white ones ! Click

      here to find out why.

And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.

Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add” and follow the prompts.

Warm greetings from South Africa :)

Hi Erica and a very warm welcome to KAS from Norfolk UK. We are a very friendly bunch so please feel free to ask any questions, there is always somebody with an answer, as I have found out! Do take a look around the site using the tabs at the top of the page. The photo section has some wonderful pics of peoples work and when you feel ready it would be great to see some of your work but it isn’t a necessity to do this. It’s a great place for ideas and inspiration to keep the children warm. Happy knitting/crocheting :)
