With The Barn relocating to a different area in Johannesburg there are ample opportunities

for distributions to New-to-KAS Creches. 

Join us on our 2024 journey to Warm The Children in South Africa with Blankets, Beanies, and Hand- Warmers...Soft Cuddly Toys, too.

It is the season to be giving and I don’t know anyone better at that than Knit-a-square

Here’s a great big bunch of red white and green Christmas cheer Estelle, ma Lizzy and her merry band and I spread in the Lion Park informal settlement.

So blessed to be a link in a chain of caring hearts from 70 countries around the globe, giving blankets, soft toys, beanies and handwarmers to children in disadvantaged communities within our reach, to bring a little warmth and a whole lot of colour, creativity, comfort and care.

Far too many children with legs far too skinny, being primary care taker. 

Sometimes it’s all we can do to just keep doing our job and not stop and just weep.

Wandi and Nathi visited a creche in Thembisa to distribute a small number of blankets on December 5 … the weather is blazing hot on the highveld this week, but the little ones bravely posed for photographs IN their blankets!

Wandi welcomed and thanks being given to Knit-a-square!

How precious? Oh these little people do tug at the heartstrings.

All told we managed to find some of the most vulnerable children in this community to bring a little comfort and colour with love from all the KNITASQUARE donors from around the globe who bless our little outreach with all these goodies to give.

I’ve captioned a few pics where I have something extra to add.

So so grateful to all who made it possible for us to give 23 more blankets into the far flung villages of Venda.

Sorry I got this sweet girl to pose in front of the communal long drop.  It gets a bit chaotic and I’m always trying to get a good job done as quickly as possible because as we are working more and more people are running in and I’m forever running out of blankets.

The Rotary Club of Orkney, Scotland  sent 12 of these hand knitted teddies.

So gratifying to drive through the village and see blankets from KAS on the washline.

This adorable little girl’s name is Cameroon.

That little girl carrying her infant sibling couldn’t stop smiling.

This mum was So grateful for the blanket for her handicapped son. a Cathy Riley blanket.

I know this chap is bigger than some of the children for whom I had nothing, once again , but sometimes I just go by feel and his need for something nice is his world was palpable so I gave him this fave one I put together recently.

Ah Karen. That makes me so happy. You are such a wonderful supporter and your beanies are always hot favourites. Truth be told I never have enough they're that sought after in these desperately impoverished commuters we serve. Estelle made a special trip out to me the day before I left to make sure I had all she had of yours ... 20! All were snapped up 🤩🙏🏻🤗🤗
