2025 KAS DISTRIBUTIONS

We have had a stream of creche owners from the Orange Farm area - coming

INTO the Barn to collect blankets for their creches.

This is one of them Angels Daycare - and Felicity was diligent to sent pics as we

requested.

The following are also the names of creches that have received blankets and we are still awaiting photos.

Hilda's creche

Ella / Elsie

Dimphosentle

Christina

And a few others ...

This has been an easy way for us to get blankets OUT in a very cold winter, but not IDEAL, since the pics are not forthcoming.

These ladies hire kombi-taxi's to get to KAS, which means they must first get taken to the centre of Johannesburg - there they must find another taxi

and hire it on a private basis so that it doesn't drop and pick up other passengers and follow its own route, but drives straight to KAS which is about 18 kilometres from the city centre. AND reverse the process to get home again with a LOAD of blankets etc. They always bring extra friends (incl. a few brawny men) because passengers can often be subjected to harassment, even crime, at the hands of the drivers who may feel they deserve a blanket or two themselves!

It's a hazardous arrangement and these ladies are to be profoundly admired for their determination to look after their little charges!!

Fantastic to hear our goodies are getting to those who need them most. So so so many joyous and cheerful colours. Delighted to see so many of my hats on these darling children, thank you.

I feel we need to run an advice piece about handwarmer sizing again, the ones pictured are wrongly proportioned unfortunately which saddens me.

Liz’s blanket I handed out today. Thanks Bev, Amy and everyone who knitted these lovely squares.

The one I joined…sadly only MD blanket this year.

In a shack in Alexandra township these two will be warm tonight with the super blanket joined by Liz.

The blanket I made in the colours of the South African flag was posted early in May. Are you saying that mine, and others, haven't arrived yet?
