Hello, I'm Maureen, Jessica's nanny. I am from Burntwood in Staffordshire and have been knitting on and off all my life, well, most of it lol. Now I am retired I have more time on my hands and have been looking for a worthwhile cause to put my time to. Having found KAS, I have now completed a few squares, about 10 hats and a jumper with much more to come.
During my working years I ran a business with my husband as well as bringing up my family who give me great pride. Now if I can help someone more in need, it will give me much pleasure to be involved and it will be good to be a part of this community of people helping others.
Regards to everyone here. Mo x

Your post could almost have been written by me. Very similar situation to myself, including the business with husband bit.
Was browsing around the internet some months ago, looking for a worthy cause for my large yarn stash accumulated ready for retirement. I have loved knitting all my life since a small child, dabble in crochet sometimes, but not that good at it.
So glad I found KAS. Such a worthy cause for children and my needles have been busy ever since. I have one small grandson aged 2 and a half. It’s when you see how lucky he is and how the SA aids orphans have so little, it really keeps me motivated.
KAS will be a long term commitment for me, frequently sending whatever I am able to.
So nice to hear from you, it when you retire that you realise just how many friend you have around you at the workplace, then suddenly you have time on your hands, I really need to fill my free time and what better than knitting for SA orphans, you are so right about our grandchilden they are never hungry or cold, and have lots of love hugs and cuddles, I often wonder not only about the younger children, but the responsibilty that so many of the older children have trying to be Mom and Dad to their sibblings. Hope to hear from you soon take care Mo xx
