KAS DISTRIBUTIONS FOR 2026

Here are the last group of photos from Athele for the Distribution in early June...

I know this is very after the fact but I think I forgot to post this last batch of images from the day in early June that Estelle and I went to the Lion Patk informal settlement, before life swept me away for a while. We had the privilege and joy of giving blankets and others items for a bit of warmth and comfort in a very harsh environment to vulnerable children in the community, all on behalf of the wonderful charity knit-a-square and it’s unflagging contributors around the globe. All in all 59 blankets were given to these children to brighten their bed and warm their little bodies. The pile of four is for a family whose shack burnt down. Unfortunately the children didn’t pitch on the day but we trust our friend Ma Lizzie implicitly so we’re sure the goodies ultimately made their way to them. Some pics are of some of the children to whom we were also able to give each a pair of lovely socks we received and which we know will be very gratefully worn.

An early and very special Mandela Day Distribution...

Mandela day IS on 18/07, but … today (16th, another very cold day in Jozi) Wandi and Nathi left the KASbarn loaded with colourful Mandela Day blankets … destined for a celebration with 50 children in an informal settlement - quite newly established and in need of some TLC.

We loaded up the van with blankets, beanies, handwarmers, cuddly toys, apples, biscuits and packets of crisps … and our own favorite HUGE comfort bear, Nelson, which seemed appropriate !

For this very special day of remembering Madiba, it was really good to have all the usual distribution gifts in stock !

The little ones seemed to enjoy it all as you see.

  Fantastic, I saw it too. Also note 2 of Arlene's smart dolls in 4th from bottom pic, the child 2nd from left with bright orange hat on, and the child to the right of 'Nelson'. It's great to see so many hand made toys too.

    Thank you, Karen! for spotting that for me. still recovering from months of eye surgery. this put a smile on my face today for sure. when I get my glasses next week. I will have a better look. Lovely to see the children happy.
