MARION DAVIES

Marion Davies

It is with much sadness that I share with you all that after a  short illness, Marion has passed away.

Marion was a wonderfully talented and generous contributor to Knit A Square and the children; joining our community in 2017.

In an email from Marion to Amy and myself, she wished to be remembered to you all.

From Marion :-

'Working with KAS has brought me a lot of joy and friendship.  Give my love to everyone.

Love Marion'

We would love to create a blanket or two in tribute to Marion.

Although I am unaware of Marion's favourite colour, she created so many fun, pretty, cheerful and child-inspired squares and as such, it would be lovely to knit or crochet some colourful, playful squares in her honour. If you would like to participate, please make a note in your parcel indicating which are your 'Marion squares', so that the ladies in South Africa can gather them all together to create a special memorial blanket.

Thank you.

13517982084?profile=RESIZE_1200xIt is the last of this ball of yarn and I think it will blend in with the other lovely square people have made.

    • GORGEOUS shade of purple, Arlene!!

LOVE your many different patterns. They will combine beautifully with all the squares.

    • This is a lovely colour. Arlene. As you say I'm sure it will blend in well.

    • Arlene, these are marvelous. The top one is my favorite, such a unique design.

Please be sure to label these as "Marion's Blanket", that way all these precious squares cans be put together for a loving tribute.

      • I put them together in a big ziplock and labled them so they will stand out from th other squares - good reminder, thanks!

  • I chose these two colours to knit in memory of Marion as I felt she used pink tones a lot in her beautiful crochet.    The Anise Square from our 35 Squares Booklet felt an appropriate choice of stitch to honour the texture she regularly produced.

Her unique work regularly shown in her fun picture squares, and interest in the crafting of others is sorely and sadly missed ♥️

    • These are truly BEAUTIFUL, Karen!! Lovely choices in colours and stitch.

    • Beautiful colours and stitch, Karen. I hope Marion realised how much she was appreciated while she was with us.

  • All of these contributions are sublime.   Marion would be so chuffed.    I still have mine to add....... I've managed almost 2 and want to do 1 more.   I'm determined to do a specific stitch but the 3tog stitch proves trying on my fingers, can you please hold on for them + I'll make concerted effort to finish 3 before the end of this month xxx. Pretty please x
