  • I hope you stick with the knitting it has helped me so much to create peace in my life. I remember when I first learned knitting when I was young my tention was terrible. I have put down and taken up knitting throughout my life. I recently last Dec. to be exact took up knitting ago I did scarfs that I plan to give to charities in colorado Springs this winter it gets cold here. Then in late may I found this site and have been doing squares only in the basic stitch (garter) it relaxes me as I said and because I stay home I am 55 and have three grown sons in 20's all still living at home I have alot of extra time and this as I call it my job now not really but at least I am doing something constructive. I hope you do get on and share with us your progress.
  • Hello from a fellow Aussie! There's some info here about postage from Australia http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/postal-rates-australia Let me know if I can help in any way.
  • Hi Jill. Welcome to our community. It's true, many of us have returned to knitting - or in my case crocheting - after years of not doing much. Now I can't stop!! When I'm not making squares, slip-overs, go-overs and hats, I'm "moonlighting" by making - at the moment - bags for myself. If you need any help finding your way around the forum or doing anything you want to do here, just ask. There's always someone who will be willing and able to help.
  • Welcome Jill! Do you knit when you travel? There was a lady in a Sportscar club my dad belonged to. Her husband drove one of those low slung red things that zips along. She always took her knitting along with her and the faster he drove the faster she knitted!
    • oh you have so many funny stories to tell Jeanne I wish I could knit in the car but it makes me car sick. My kids are going to remember there mom at least recently as alway knitting whenever possible. Did I tell you we were playing cards last week when mom was here and I knitted till my turn. I am getting bad.

      • Jill Your story is like so many of us who made wobbly starts after retiring from knitting for years. Glad to have you aboard.
  • Hi Jill, nice to have you. Jeni was more eloquent than me, so I won't try to add more. :))

  • Welcome to the forum Jill. You are not alone with your lack of computer skills. I think many of the forum users have used this forum as a learning platform. Many of us couldn't do more than the basics when we joined and now many add photos, discussions, and much more without even thinking about it.
On the squares issue, lots of people have used the squares as a perfect way to learn to knit, crochet, try out new patterns or new yarn without having to commit to huge and time consuming projects. Our little squares are a great sized pratice piece. We look forward o seeing some of your efforts when you maybe learn hw to submit your photos tooo.
