Wandi's back!

Hi friends...

Here is a picture of me with some of the Clear Lake Methodist church groups wonderful work!  THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for all your messages.  I am back now and ready to start where I left off two weeks ago.  I just had a nasty dose of flu.

As I have been ill, I haven't been able to get out much over the past two weeks.  However, we were inspired with a good idea from one of you in the forum to contact the Sizwile School in Dobsonville, Soweto to organise a distribution there.  It is a school that caters specifically to needy children with learning disabilities, Autism and also orphans.  We will keep you updated.

Our lovely ladies from Zondi have already brought back some blankets which they have sewn up and taken more squares with them to make more.  Next time I go there I will take some pictures of them working on the blankets so that you can get to 'know' them better!

Next Tuesday we will be visiting a creche in Klipspruit, Soweto.  They take children (some orphans, many HIV positive) from the neighbouring squatter camps (some from Kliptown, some from Chicken Farm etc) and take care of them.  We will show you some pictures next week.

In the meantime, take care of yourselves - keep knitting and we'll 'chat' next week!

Lots of love

Wandi

  • Just reading this now, but wanted to say I am glad you are better. I have an autistic son and am glad to know that there are other countries that are helping them as well.  Thanks for sharing the lovely items that others are making. Keep up the great work.
  • Hi Wandi

Many thanks for the update.  So sorry to hear you had 'flu, it can certainly take time to get over so take good care of yourself.

I'm just in the process of finishing off a wool blanket that should go in the post on Tuesday.

I look forward to your next update.

    Love, Barbara x

  • Thank you so much for the good news, we look forward to meeting the Ladies of Zondi.  Please do look after yourself as you are much needed......
  • Hi Wandi - cannot believe it is a year ago since I met you - my memories of our meetings and distributions are as clear as if they had been yesterday.   The work you do for this wonderful charity is revered by all your Australian team and we love you for it.  Many blessings always

Hope we will meet again one day.

  • Please pamper yourself Wandile, as flu can really knock 'the stuffing' out of you, and, it can take a couple of months to fully recover.  As KAS and its members need you to continue your 'ministry' of service to the children please pace yourself!  You'll be in our hearts.
  • Wandi,

Glad you're feeling better!  Look forward to more pictures next week =)!

  • Wandile thank you so much for the lovely photo and all your news.  We really appreciate it.  You have the most beautiful eyes might I add.  Big hugs from everyone at Knit A Square to all of you helping so much to help the children and a special "hello" to the ladies from Zondi, I look forwards to meeting them through a photograph. :)
  • Hi Wandi,  so glad you are feeling better.

It is lovely that you were able to take blankets to the special needs children.  They too need our help.

Beautiful work from the Clear Lake group !
