Wavy Stripes Square

Here is a square devised by Jane from the Charity Knitters Club in Brighton - I love it!

 

JANE’S SQUARE

 

 

Use DK yarn and 4mm needles (UK size 8).

 

Cast on 45 sts.

 

Knit 2 rows for bottom edge.

 

Begin 12-row pattern:

 

Row 1 and every odd-numbered row:  Knit.

Row 2: (K3, P3) to last 3 sts, K3.

Row 4: same as Row 2.

Row 6: Change colour and knit.

Row 8: (P3, K3) to last 3 sts, P3.

Row 10: same as Row 8.

Row 12: Change colour and knit.

 

Repeat rows 1 – 12 four times.

Then repeat rows 1 – 5 only.

 

DO NOT CHANGE COLOUR

 

Knit 2 rows then cast off.

    Lovely, stripes are so good for brightening up some of the duller colours.  Thanks Robert - nice to see your pic too - would like to see what more people look like _we seem to have a lot of flowers and animals knitting for KAS!  :-)

    I'm amazed that such a simple pattern has such great results.  Even I could read it and understand it and that's saying something!

      Thanks for putting the wavy stripes pattern up, Robert. It looks interesting to knit but not complicated either. Seem to have quite a bit of pure wool dk odds and ends so these squares will be ideal. They look so lovely.
