What's on Your Needles and Hooks in January 2025?

Happy New Year
to you all.

Well, as the clock ticks past midnight in my part of the world,
we enter a new year of wonderful, warm crafting for 'our' children.

Starting the year off on a bright and cheery note....
The Colour of the Month (CoM) is

ORANGE

    • You must have a fab imagination, Patricia. You use colour combinations in SO many different ways.

LOVE them all, but think my faves would have to be the green flower on the black sparkly yarn, the bottom left in the second set and the middle right, placed like a diamond in the same set.

      • I do love experimenting with colour, Bev, and some combinations work out better than others. But then we all have different tastes, so something I may think hasn't worked could turn out to be another person's favourite!

        • I so know what you mean, Patricia. I hummed and haa-ed over an applique that I was going to put on a square yesterday, trying to decide whether it really looked its best on an orange square, or was it because I wanted it to.....it went back in the box for another day.....haha.

    • Your output has been fabulous + so varied Patricia x.  You should certainly have way less leftovers in your stash and therefore can afford to be smug about your recent bargains. I'm sure you're bursting to get into some new yarn, I always really enjoy that part x

  • Bev, you never cease to amaze me! You always find time in your busy schedule to lift and inspire our contributors.  Thank you for all you do!

Happy New Year to all.  My words and my stitches may not show up here as much anymore, but my eyes take frequent walks through the forum ... lol

I've just taken a lovely stroll through these pages and am in awe of the talent and imagination of our crafters.  I was especially inspired by Diane's honeycomb stitch ... not sure if its crochet, knit or TC, but I'm off to find some orange yarn and a TC hook ... xo

  • Three colour of the month squares. Taken on a bit of an angle to get closest to the correct colour. Thank you so much, Sharon, for sharing the pattern....one I will defintely revisit.

    • What  beautiful pattern and square, I love the soft colour.

    • WOWZA!  That was fast, Bev.   It is a great pattern, I think, and not difficult to memorize.   Hope you make more cuz this one is a beauty!

      • Thanks Sharon. xo

There is actually three there.laughing  I only bought the single 100gm ball. As it was online, I didn't want to get too much in case I didn't like the colour 'in the flesh'. Of course, when knitting it, I wished I had more....haha.

        • There is so much good about buying yarn online, but there are also downsides, too.  Of course, not being able to feel the yarn and not being able to see the color are two of the downsides.   I just placed an order online, with fingers crossed.   Will I be thrilled or disappointed?   Time will tell.

(I should add, I don't actuallyNEED any yarn.   In fact, I might have trouble fitting it all onto the yarn shelves.   I better get working fast to clear out some of the yarn already stored on my shelves to make way for the new!)
