It does amaze us Toby when you consider just how poverty stricken their lives are, yet, they remain upbeat, smiling and positive. Whilst in the western world, many have lost that 'attitude of gratitude'. Ronda says when the blankets are handed out she has never seen the children swap blankets or toys - they are all so pleased for each other!
Hi Toby. Thank you for your comment. I haven't blocked them. I sent off about 40 squares in May for the very first time. They hadn't been blocked and I feel really bad about it when I see other people's work, so nicely blocked and finished!! I've another 30 ready (those on the line), but I'm waiting to send them until I finish a go-over that I started recently. After that I think I'll try either a hat or some Santa shoes. I find the squares really useful for waiting room activities. Most of my squares are crocheted, so I can carry them anywhere easily. Valerie xxx
I was just looking through some of the comments on this thread and noticed yours regarding hats. I have attached the Samaritans Purse stretchy hat pattern for you - it's a great pattern as the hat grows with the child, and is also quite quick to make! if you use the 'thumb cast on' method you won't get a tight band across the bottom so it's even stretchier. If you can't open the attachment let me know and I will try another way. So lovely to have you on board Kas - it really is wonderful! Kathy :o)

I see you have already joined the US group. They are quite active and have adopted 3 creches. Yard sales are definitely a good place to find yarn. The expensive yarn would be a great find and how nice of the seller to donate more yarn !

I'm so glad it's proving useful. I love the squares for trying new stitches too. It gives us a chance to practice without getting in too deep!
