MARION DAVIES

Marion Davies

It is with much sadness that I share with you all that after a  short illness, Marion has passed away.

Marion was a wonderfully talented and generous contributor to Knit A Square and the children; joining our community in 2017.

In an email from Marion to Amy and myself, she wished to be remembered to you all.

From Marion :-

'Working with KAS has brought me a lot of joy and friendship.  Give my love to everyone.

Love Marion'

We would love to create a blanket or two in tribute to Marion.

Although I am unaware of Marion's favourite colour, she created so many fun, pretty, cheerful and child-inspired squares and as such, it would be lovely to knit or crochet some colourful, playful squares in her honour. If you would like to participate, please make a note in your parcel indicating which are your 'Marion squares', so that the ladies in South Africa can gather them all together to create a special memorial blanket.

Thank you.

    • Translation of Mireille Réau's reply: Every time a Kas knitter flies away, it is the entire community of volunteer knitters that is in mourning. I discovered Marion's immense talent on this sad occasion and I intend to make one or more squares for her commemorative cover (which I will post next year). I am sure that from where she lives now she will not stop inspiring us and guiding our hands.

  • Sad news, will miss Marion's exquisite work

  • thank you for letting us know of Marion's passing.  This is such a loss of a friend.  I will miss her fabulous squares - each one so memorable - the dazzling parrot, the elephants! all so bright and joyous.  I will think of a square to add to her blanket.  Please let her family know how much she meant to us and the joy she brought to the children.

  • Those are lovely Patricia, very Marion. I'm sure she's looking down and loving your choice of patterns.

  • These are my squares for Marion's Memorial Blanket. I've made the plain coloured textured quarters squares because when I posted a photo of some on the Forum once Marion asked me for the pattern - so I know she liked it. Needless to say the squares Marion made from it were impeccable.

    • These are BEAUTIFUL, Patricia. The textures and the colours are so pretty.

Thank you and to everyone  for sharing your 'Marion moments' with us all.  xoxo

    • These made me think of Marion straight away.  Beautiful colour + stitch choices xx

  • I just listend to the podcast episode with Marion and heard her say that she liked lilac.

Very sad she passed away but glad I listend to the episode. She sounded like a very friendly and happy person.
