What's on Your Hooks and Needles in April 2025

Ah, the month I have been waiting for

and it's no April Fool's Day joke......

This month the CoM (colour of the month) is....

PINK

I felt inspired by this poem

that I discoverd.......sadly, I can't seem to locate who penned it.

Pink’s Lullaby

“Pink’s Lullaby” is a calming ode to the nurturing aspect of pink, often associated with comfort and care. It paints an image of a serene evening, where the color brings warmth to the world.

When evening comes in pastel tones,

And sunlight for the moon atones,

The sky wraps us in arms of pink,

As stars above begin to wink.

Like softest sheets on childhood bed,

Or gentle touch on sleepy head.

Pink’s lullaby, a soothing hum,

As day to night does finally succumb.

So rest your eyes, let dreams unfurl,

As pink engulfs the waking world.

To every heart, its warmth apply,

In the soft strains of pink’s lullaby.

Whichever colour and yarn inspires you to create warmth for the children, this month, please share your crafting with us all.

  • Around 3 years ago my husband realised that I would never stop knitting - so he decided if he couldn't stop me he'd have to join me instead!    He had been taught and encouraged to learn to knit by his friend's Grandma when he was around 7 years old.    In recent years he has knit 4 squares for KAS and a blanket for himself which he's very proud of.    Here's his recent batches all ready for South Africa, 12 of NAKO Hit Jakar aran and 12 James C Brett Fairground DK.    It has just been his birthday recently so I bought him 2 more wools for his next project use to keep him out of mischief, or delving into my stash, ha ha.

    • Outstanding squares, give that man a pat on the back😉

    • I love to think of you sitting knitting together but do bear in mind that if his stash grows as big as yours you may have to consider moving house!

    • WOW! Give the man a prize....these are SUPER neat!!!

I've tried to suggest to my hubby that he might like to try......nope.

    • Hats off to your husband!  The above squares are smashing and his neat work takes right after yours.

So wish we could get the James Brett yarn here in the US for a reasonable price...shipping is the killer.

  • I knit the variegated aran central panel of this as a baby blanket about 4-5 years ago, then put it aside to finish at a later date.    However, at some point I accidentally used one of the balls for hats which meant when I returned to it, I could just knit as far as the remaining wool allowed, which was around 38" height - perfect for a full size blanket piece!    Since then I have waited for a toning pink to fall into my stash so I could finish off with two narrower panels, one for each side.    Ta-da! eventually a complete and finished blanket xx13534863293?profile=RESIZE_930x

    • This is very effective, the plain colours make the stripes stand out, beautiful

    • I have an abandoned section from a failed project which I get out from time to time with a view to turning it into a blanket size. Maybe you've inspired me to actually knuckle down an do something with it, Karen!

      • Better to do something with it than it just sit abandoned and unloved as it is.  There's so many colour choices and stitch textures to play around with these days, and I'm sure you would relish the challenge.   Go on, give it a go, you know you want to ⭐

    • Magnifique et douce couverture Karen et vous avez l'art des assemblages inédits  et toujours avec la même excellence ! J'admiresmile
