Distributions

13330520452?profile=RESIZE_584x

There have been several distributions the year and this discussion has some many of the wonderful photographs taken by our KAS volunteers.  KAS continues to reach those children in need.

The Blanket Room

Our KAS Cake was baked many times over this month, as no sooner than blankets

came into the barn and they flew out to go to a distribution.

KAS Packing Slip/Mailing Label

Before posting, please visit the How to package page for important steps to help make our volunteers’ jobs easier.

Most countries have a ‘small packet rate.’ We have found that generally this is the cheapest way to ship.

All packages should be posted to:
Knit-a-square,
Private Bag X900,
Bryanston 2021,
SOUTH AFRICA

DO:

Send your parcels through the postal service of your country.

Make sure your handwriting is clear.

DO NOT:

Register, insure or use tracking numbers for your letters, parcels, packages or boxes.

Ship via FedEx, courier, or other mail services because they do not deliver to Box Numbers, as in the KAS address.

Send parcels over 20kg (44 lbs.) from Australia, Canada or the United States or parcels over 30 kg (66 lbs.) from the UK.

Customs Slips

Knit-a-square South Africa operates on a shoestring budget. Monthly donations are used to keep the operation running and help to cover the cost of KasVan gas for the distributions, expenses incurred in keeping the office running and other small expenses each month.

One of these expenses is the mandatory handling fee charged by the South African Customs and Excise. All overseas parcels attract this fee and it now costs R51.50 per parcel ($3.74 US). It is imperative that we take great care in filling out the customs slip so that any further unnecessary charges are not incurred.

Post your squares as a gift

All Customs Slips have the option of declaring the parcel as a GIFTPlease be sure to do this.

The slips also have a square for declaring VALUE. Please declare the value as $0 so that no charges will be made on your parcel when it arrives in South Africa. If your postmaster insists on a value, please declare $1.00.

Below we have included sample copies of customs slips from various countries. The following comments are guidelines only.  Please check with your post office for pricing and the most economical way to send your parcel.

I know my appearances here have been scarce.  I've had some health issues that are now coming under control.  Thank you to everyone who has inquired and wished me well ... your kind thoughts, prayers and good wishes are working :)

Thank you to all my forum friends and our merry band of crafters who have spent 2024 wrapping "our" children in warmth and love.  Here's hoping that throughout 2025 we will continue to reach the precious children who ask us for so little.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to us all ... xo

  • Thank you for the beautiful KAS Snippets for December.  It is amazing that this year is coming to a close already.  So many beautiful squares, hats, handwarmers, toys made by so many loving hands from around the world.  New friends, friendsremembered - all coming together to help the children.  I look forward to the new themes and Colours of the Month for 2025 and with excitement to see all the lovely things that the creative minds of KAS cotributors will invent.  I love the comfort of seeing the Plain Jane squares.  I wish you all a very Blessed Holiday and all good things in the New Year to come. Hugs to all the children!  (these are ornaments I made in 2002 and 2003 for my son and new granddaughter.  He puts them on the tree every year.)
